1967: Attended Lenox Boys School in Lenox, Mass., with the intent of going on to West Point the next year.
1967-71: After doing well at Lenox I received a hockey scholarship to Boston University. I graduated in 1971 with BS degree in education.
1972-2000: I was employed by the Town of Winthrop school department as an elementary physical education teacher and high school hockey coach in Winthrop, Mass. I received my Masters degree in School Administration at Salem State College during my first few years of teaching. Also, from 1980-2000 I was sole proprietor of "Holmen Landscaping".
2000-07: I was employed by the Town of Winthrop as an elementary school principal.
2007: I retired from teaching after 35 years in Winthrop, Mass.
Currently I am enjoying retirement helping my children Matthew, Elizabeth, and Eric with their many projects around their homes. My wife of 38 years, Debbie, keeps me busy around our home and is planning on retiring from teaching this year. At that time we will travel and decide where we might end up. I am still skating and playing hockey with some "older guys", as well as exercising and rollerblading. I had one hip replaced last year but it didn't slow me down and I am back doing all my activities.
