This past year I became a grandfather, as Bernard was born to my oldest son and wife. They live across the street from me, so I have been having lots of fun in this new role. For the past 4 years, I have been working only part time in private
practice, my two sons are economically independent, so I have been able to enjoy lots of free time, especially in the mornings. On the other hand, I have been busydeveloping social projects as part of my role as a teacher of psychiatry and pschotherapy. Right now we are introducing a pilot project in teaching "emotional intelligence" in elementary school. We have a partnership with the Department of
Psychiatry of the medical school, where I am a volunteer teacher and my wife Olga is the Chair of the department. She recently took this job, so unfortunately she will not be with me in Duluth. She enjoyed very much the 30th reunion. This year we celebrated our 20th (re)marriage anniversary. I continue to be involved in sports and political activities. I have been fortunate to have a large international network of friends, so for the past years I have been travelling to the USA and Europe every year, vacationing and attending conferences. My oldest son is a medical doctor and health administrator. The youngest, Felipe, is finishing his PH.D in
Paris; he is living with a nice French woman and it now looks like he will continue to live in Europe. This international flavor that colors my life started in 1965 in Duluth, when I was warmly received by the Kozlow family and Central High School.
I lived 8 years in the USA altogether and two years in Israel (I like to say my biggest challenge was to be a young psychiatrist, at age 27, speaking Hebrew in Jerusalem).
I am very happy to have kept the relationship with the family and with Central, but I will not be able to come this year.
